I know I’ve stepped it up a bit when it comes to partying lately- for those who are disappointed in me/wondering what’s happened to me, I’m stopping this whole thing, so no worries. The holidays are coming to an end and I’ve experienced enough night life in the past 1.5 weeks, so that’s that.

Breakfast and lunch plans got scraped as well and I’m starting to get worried bout all the assignments that I’ve yet to touch. But for now I’ll say to hell with that.

I’ll say 2011 didn’t exactly end on a splendid note, but I guess that would imply that it would be easier for my 2012 to have a better start.

I can’t decide whether 2011 passed by too quickly or not or whether it has been a good year or bad, but I do know that I’ve learnt quite a bit with each event in passing.

In the year 2011, I’ve lost a grandmother, I’ve lost a pet hamster, I’ve been enthusiastic with regards to the SG elections and presidential elections, I’ve gotten my 4.0 and my top student award, I got put on a civil case with media coverage, I’ve snipped off a couple of inches of my locks, I’ve dyed my hair black(stupid hair doesn’t absorb the color black even after two dye jobs), I’ve resisted the urge to dye it red, I’ve sold 120++ pieces of my own clothing at my first flea, I’ve watched my first football match ever, I’ve laughed till I cried, I’ve been happy, I’ve been angry, I’ve hated, I’ve been upset, I’ve loved and been loved, I’ve been surprised, I’ve been scared, I’ve felt vulnerable for the first time in a really long while, I’ve gotten over the whole partying scene, I’ve gotten emotionally swayed, I’ve been gone, I’ve made new friends, drifted apart from some, forged stronger friendships, gave up on some, I’ve done the right things and the wrong ones, I’ve regretted and I’ve learnt, I’ve learnt to keep the real ones close and to see for myself who are the ones who would be there at the end of the day, I have done things I didn’t expect myself to, I’ve surprised myself by not doing certain things I thought I would have done, I’ve done things I should have and shouldn’t, I’ve messed up some opportunities, I’ve made some things happen for myself, I’ve learnt that things usually start out bright and beautiful, but over time the shine might just gradually fade away, I’ve learnt that there are some things you just can’t force, I’ve learnt to not judge, I’ve made mistakes, I’ve learnt from it and to live with it. I’ve learnt not to look back, and so should you.

I’ve decided that life is simple- you make decisions and you don’t look back. So with every choice you make, make sure it’s one you won’t look back and regret because life is too short to regret. Life is too short for you to look back and wonder “What if..”

I’ve seen this somewhere online and took it down to show a friend ’cause I thought it was meaningful- but my apologies I can’t remember where I got this from so I can’t credit:

There are more photos of other bouquets but since all flowers look the same.. I’ll put up pictures of other birthday/christmas/whatever-occasion-we-come-up-with-to-celebrate(such as end of internship) gifts/celebrations next time because this entry is already overloaded with photos.

Most of the shots above are taken during some of my birthday dinners(I didn’t bring the camera out on some days so no photos for those), there are more pics but I think there are more than enough photos to make up for my absence for now.

So other than hanging around town/clarke quay, crashing over at friends’ places, driving around for late night supper at Newton, Geylang or Balestier/Tpy, I’ve also been to Equinox(level 70++ bar right at Raffles City), Ku De Ta(rooftop bar @ MBS sky park), Chijmes, Chips, Fremantle, Rebel, Butterfactory, The Arena, so on and so forth and I must say I’m stopping all these after New Year’s day.

Fact that I actually bothered checking how I look with short hair shows I’m actually pretty serious bout snipping those locks off.

Birthday’s coming in less than a week’s time and I’m actually not looking forward to it. Turning 19 means I’ll be hitting the big 2 next year and man I do NOT wanna grow any older. I can totally remember being 16 and wanting to grow old but when you’re 18, everything changes. Funny how much can change in two years. Oh well.

Someone get me a iTouch and I’ll love you forever. The MP4 has to die on me after 4 years. Well it actually still works with the USB plugged in( I have no idea what’s wrong with the device) but I can’t possibly use it outside of home.

Tomorrow will see me at UniLegal LLC giving a seminar and then I’ll be off to another law firm, et cetera et cetera.

4 more weeks(inclusive of this) to end of internship. Don’t believe I’m saying this but I’m actually missing school. Not that internship sucks, but between school and work.. It’s definitely school. Hands down.

And obviously I don’t update this space and Facebook as frequently so.. Most of the action goes onto my twitter. I say “most” because even though the twitter’s locked, not all the happenings goes up there either because.. Anything that’s online is never really “locked” anyway.

All I can say is that.. I started internship thinking I was gon dread the 12 boring weeks, only to find myself so, so wrong.

I wasn’t expecting to be working first hand on a somewhat pretty major case that has publicity on the news, a case that first “started” back in the 1980s, I wasn’t expecting to be able to be so hands-on kinda involved on a case(we go to the client’s hotel after court to continue working by the pool and sometimes even spend the whole day there when court’s adjourned, we have the media sitting in on hearings and waiting outside the supreme court and calling us up, the supreme court people or the boss of the printing shop for all the court bundles and all knows us, the case name’s like the magic words in court), I wasn’t even expecting to do litigation per se when I chose my SIP firm. I wasn’t expecting my bosses and colleagues to be THIS nice- I knew they were nice, I just didn’t think they would be THAT nice- and they were so nice I actually didn’t mind going back on weekends and working on a weekdays till 1 in the morning.

Though I do get calls after work hours(at unearthly hours) and even on weekends, I was never once forced to do any unpaid overtime work. I get invited to company lunches and dinners and we go for drinks with the bosses(who aren’t bossy at all- they actually feel like friends) and clients..

It’s basically everything that I did not expect when I first started SIP. In fact I think in the first week of SIP, I was one of those with the slackest SIP ever. Till a week or two later where I dare say I’m actually one of the busier interns ever.

As for outside of work..

I really don’t know how to put into words all that’s been happening.

After 4 years.

I’ve had to be such an objective adult, doing what’s right instead of what’s easy, I’ve had to be so rational and courageous, I’ve had to hold it all in and do what I have to and what I’m supposed to.

THEN, the later part of the month it felt like I had to compensate for being so “right”, I started leaning towards the “wrong” side.

I don’t know whether I oughta be proud of myself or not.

I really don’t.

All I do know is that..

I’m only human.

I err. I’m only me. I make mistakes, I live with it, whether as a regret or a lesson, because life goes on, whether you right the wrong or not.

The real question is:

What d’you do after you’ve made a mistake?

Do you try to make it right?

And if you can’t, what do you do then?

Or do you  just carry on with the mistake since you’ve already made it?

Or do you not do anything at all?

As for last Saturday..

Haven't repeated my wardrobe for a while now- but yes this is the dress I wore to flea a couple of weeks back

So last night at Club Soul(gotta thank Amd for guest list!) was the shortest clubbing night ever. Pearlyn brought a bottle of Vodka over and we started drinking outside the club before the party started and got high even before we went in.

So basically, the only song(not even the full song) I “danced” to was Only Girl and I said “danced” cause well- I think I was a lil too high to be dancing properly. Come to think of it, I actually spent more time tryna get myself to throw up in the toilet than on the dance floor, and Barney had to carry me over his shoulders to get a cab to his place.

I can’t remember how many times I knocked my head into something and how I lost 2 rings that were on my fingers.

(I mean like.. People lose their phones or whatever cause they were holding it/it’s not attached to their hands but I lose rings that were ON my fingers.)

Anyway. I know I haven’t been myself lately with these few nights out partying or whatever; but I can actually still count with one hand the number of times I’ve been clubbing and all.

I’m not usually like that so.. Don’t presume to know what’s been going on with my life and to judge me based on these.

Please give me some time; this will stop.

All we need is time.

But of course I took ‘em in the end cause I’m feeling so horrible I just wanna recover, especially since I’m going partying on Saturday. Yes don’t ask me what’s gotten into me; I don’t know why I’m actually doing the one thing that I usually dislike.

So I’ve been keeping myself so busy by working OT late into the night, so much so that after 8 days of work consecutively my body’s finally given up. Splitting headache, tummy pain, fever. I should have seen it coming- I even threw up (on a friend) when we headed out for drinks after work. And I NEVER throw up; unless I force myself to.

Well okay to redeem myself a lil- I was headed for the basin and couldn’t push my friend out of the way in time, and I didn’t know that mixing shots, liquor and beer on an almost empty stomach is a bad idea. Or that resting your head on something/someone would make your head spin. Plus I did have quite a lot on my mind so I must say I wasn’t exactly myself that night. Else you will NEVER catch me like that.

Can't stand the tummy that pops out everytime during that time of the month.

 I think I lost some photos while on the way to the flea- Shah came over to my place to help me with my two luggages of around 150 pieces of apparels and other flea necessities (I looked like I was flying off for 2 weeks worth of business trip with the outfit, luggages and cab) and we cabbed over to Joy’s place to pick her up before heading for the flea.

We were there early and this was what it was like, with the place empty.

We tried to be neat and tidy initially but we eventually gave up cause.. It's not possible(it started off with a much bigger pile of clothes, so high a pile that when we sat behind the table we couldn't see past the mountain of clothes to the next table and everything just kept dropping even without us putting our personal stuff on the table)

Drinks are must-haves. I even brought my lunch there cause I was running late in the noon

I bumped into quite a bit of friends on that day, one of 'em(the one in red) rented a booth for both days

Believe it or not I only sold and didn't buy anything on that day. So proud of myself.

The rest of the time(mostly) was us busy with customers, although the crowd did die down as night fell; I must say I didn’t expect things to get so crazy like suddenly EVERYONE is fighting for your attention all at the same time.

I brought around 150 pieces of clothing(note: clothing only, I didn’t manage to bring any footwear/bags/accessories cause I didn’t know I actually have that much clothes) over there and came back with around 30 pieces, which means I sold around 120 pieces, with the biggest transaction amounting to around 30 or 40 over pieces at one go. We actually didn’t stay till the flea ended, so I prolly could have sold more. It was also really nice to have familiar faces coming back to buy again and asking if we’ll be here to flea anytime soon.

If you’re interested in flea-ing and wondering, I’ll say that people don’t usually bring so many apparels(150 pieces) to a flea. I don’t think people usually have that much clothes to bring anyway.. I still have two wardrobes- both 3/4 full at home after the flea, plus a dozen over stuff waiting to come in via mail). My friends brought an average of 30++ pieces each, or some would bring one luggage each and so far I’m the only one with 2 luggages so yup.

So Shah was actually going to help me lug my stuff home till Zachary came over instead to help me with the luggage and brought me some food to save me from my gastric pain(note: I said luggage instead of luggages cause by the time I went off I had sold off so many pieces I could fit the smaller luggage into the larger one). We had sucha hard time tryna get a cab(and the fact that I’m not exactly patient didn’t help) we had to call for one. Like seriously, what’s up with cabbies complaining bout the lack of customers?

So we left my luggage at home and went to Punngol Park to supposedly grab a bite at the cafe over there, where we got bitten by loads of mosquitoes or whatever it is -I have a REALLY ugly left foot now thanks to those bites- and yup after a whole night of drama Zac dropped me off at my place before cabbing home and that sums up the really long Sunday.

Now is no time to be a wreck, even if everything around seems like it is.

It looks longer than it really is IRL because I combed it repeatedly to straighten it

So yup there goes 1.5 years worth of hair, which is equivalent to 8inches(which is longer than the average man’s face).

I basically went with whatever my hairstylist recommended because firstly, I trust her more than I trust myself with my own hair and secondly, she’s literally seen me grow up, so she knows best(better than I know myself).

I’ve been getting my hair done at her salon ever since I was a kid and I’ve only patronized that shop ever since, even when I got older, even till now. She knows what suits me even better than me myself. I don’t know what I’d do if she decides to retire. Thank god she’s young haha.

Anyway. I know it seems like there isn’t much of a difference in the photos but the difference is really much more obvious IRL especially without combing because curls makes it shorter.

Other than snipping off most of the curls(which is also the part that’s been tampered with most, like rebonding, straightening, perming, dyeing, bleaching, you-name-it-i’ve-done-it) that makes my hair look thicker, one major difference would be the ends at the back because my previous hair from the back was slanted(i.e it was short to long from right to left). I’ve tried layering, straight cut, slanted cut and this time round my hairdresser recommended rounded ends so round ends it is.

I’m holding back the urge to get a dye job or re-curling my hair, so for now everything will be au naturel.

I’ve been making use of the holidays, going out and enjoying the time before my SIP(student internship programme) starts, and I’ve been buying and wearing loads of colors recently, with my latest favourite color being red. I’ve also been getting more earrings for my lobes, so it’s finally starting to make sense that someone with so many piercings should at least make some use of ‘em lol.

Off to town in the new platforms and maxi in dark fuschia. Fancy term for "purple", IMO.

Checked out the Flea @ Scape and also went to say hi to Elaine & Lydia!

Then we headed over to H&M on their 2nd day of opening and man it was crowded.

Btw this isn’t the starting point for the queue. From where I was standing when I took this photo, there were H&M staff standing a couple of metres behind me holding signs that reads “H&M  entrance queue starts here” and people would queue in a line by the side of the street and batch by batch people would get moved from there to in front of where I was standing when I took this photo. This is so that traffic on the streets won’t be blocked by the queue.

Then when you’re queueing directly outside of H&M, there’s another queue which stretches twice the length of H&M.

AND when you’re finally in H&M itself, you’ll have to squeeze your way around and queue for cashiers and fitting rooms so yeah we didn’t spend much time in there though there were 3 levels.

So if you wanna go, I suggest you go late at night, just enough time for you to do your shopping before the store closes.

Then we were on our way to Ion to get food for the movie when we saw this: mooncake fest. There was another mooncake fare at Ion's basement but that was nowhere as crowded as this.

Btw if you’re there in a group of 3 or more, you won’t be seated unless everyone’s present, so Shah and I got to jump a couple of queue because it was just the two of us.

And FINALLY we got our seats.

I was telling Shah that after watching FD5, I can't help but to look at the chandelier and think that it's gon drop and kill the people below it anytime lol

And thank god everything came fast after we ordered, there was not much waiting time.

Our Tamago side dish. INSANELY AWESOME. I'm a HUGE fan of tamago. It smells really sweet but tastes just nice. It comes to the table steaming hot. 5/5 stars.

My spicy miso ramen with egg with soft noodles. The egg's a must.

The bowls seems rather big and deep but the serving's not THAT huge actually.

So conclusion: Ippudo’s overrated, IMO.

Well cept for good service, like the jap dude would observe and automatically come over just to pour my drink from the bottle into the glass for me in a really funny(but good) way.

I had so much expectations because I’ve heard a lot about it but it really isn’t ALL THAT good. I’ve tried ramen at some other ramen places before, say baikohken at Boat Quay and Marutama at The Central and I think the latter’s the best among all I’ve tried(and it has out-of-the-world char siew).

But if you’re talking about side dishes, Ippudo has pretty decent tamago. More than decent, I’d say.

It’s a MUST try.

Random: Our BBs. Shah was at my place some time back when he just picked up my pen knife and started scraping away the red layer on his BB so now you see the silver face on his supposed red BB. And obviously he doesn't use a screen protector(to which he answers: 'I'M A GUY!')

Then it was to Cold Stone for some ice cream before our 2nd movie, Cars 2

In the queue, AGAIN. Seriously we spent the whole day queueing.

The many flavors of ice cream and the counter where the staff would mix and mash the ice cream(and throw 'em up in the air)

I was quite surprized when Shah pointed out the ice cream marks on the ceiling to me lol.(look at the brown lil spots right beside the menu board)

And we got a medium oreo overload without waffles because their waffle's not crunchy anyway..

Then we were off to catch the 2nd movie in a day….

 LOVED the visual and audio effects whenever the cars zoomed by(almost wanted to say I’m a speed freak lol). But yeah speed and cars.. Wouldn’t say I hate ‘em. NFS was one of my favorite games back then when I still played with PSPs.

After FD5.. I think I’m not gon watch any shows of the like anymore.

It’s not because that FD5 sucked so bad that I wanna swear off shows of this genre, but more so that I find myself getting more and more disinterested in films like these. It’s been like that for a while now, and it’s the same for horror. I just.. Don’t enjoy ‘em as much as I used to do, so I guess from now on I’m better off sticking to my sci-fi, animation, comedies, action and thriller. (Or maybe I’m just getting old y’know. The heart can’t take it anymore hahaha)

As for the show. Is it really possible to die the way Candice did? I was rather shocked when she died that way because it didn’t seem possible to me. And as for Olivia, I doubt any of you spectacled people would consider lasik anymore. Seriously. It’s just like after the dude died doing acupuncture.. I don’t think many would wanna try it anymore.

Alright I don’t wanna spoil anything so if you wanna know what I’m talking about, google.

It pisses me to no end to see that my face is ALWAYS so many tones lighter than the rest of my body. I don’t apply any foundation or compact powder or loose powder or concealer or whatever sunblock that girls usually apply, and I don’t even use any whitening products, I don’t go for facials, I don’t do masks, I don’t use toner or moisturizer et cetera but my face seems to be whitening BY ITSELF.

It’s like a gradient. From bottom up, my tan will fade gradually, until it gets to my neck/face and the change is just.. Rapid.

I feel so cheated because there are people who pay so much for whitening products out there to see no results but here I am NOT wanting any whitening effect but to have it automatically.

And talking about whitening products.. It upsets me even more to walk past and see rows and rows of WHITENING products. Why is it that all products are about whitening? Even products that aren’t focusing on whitening would have whitening as a “bonus” effect.

WHY?!

Am I really the only girl who doesn’t care about being white?! If not, then WHY is it that ALL products seem to think that ALL ladies wanna turn fairer and fairer and fairer AND FAIRER?

Y’know people usually go shopping for what they want but I think in my case it’ll be easier to just spot what I don’t want before looking for what I actually want.

And yeah alright I know I could always go tanning, but believe it or not I’ve only ever went tanning ONCE in my entire life(and that one time was to try it out)and I HATED it. And that was like a half an hour kinda tan because I couldn’t stand being under the sun not doing anything.

My whole life I’ve been tanned not because of suntanning, but because I do sports. I’m quite an outdoor person yes, but I’m also a really lazy person. So now that I’m out of kayak, I don’t exercise anymore, which also means I don’t get to get tanned anymore because I’m too lazy to go out to exercise by myself.

But many seem to think that I look better fair.

Damn.. It is when I compare the photos taken with a digital camera and DSLR that I realize that there’s really quite some difference. Or is it because I know that there’s a mixture of photos from different cameras??

It was then that I realized how often we take things for granted. Little things like having your mom make dinner for you, having people in the house to eat with, the presence of your  family at home while you burn the midnight oil tryna get work done, knowing that you can just walk into to living room and you’ll be able to see them while taking a break from staring at the screen, being able to stop at the hall while walking back to your room from the kitchen(prolly digging for food) to talk to them and just hearing their laughter echoing from the living hall into your room while you’re furiously typing away tryna get some assignments done.

I think I’ve underestimated the power of moral support till now.

Then I think of the things that has happened to some of the people around me, people getting sick(like really sick, terminal illnesses and all, not your usual kinda flu or food poisoning) and I realized that there are even more things that we all take for granted. Things like being healthy. Being fit and able to move around with ease, being able to see and hear and et cetera. It is when you see people facing problems like that that you feel all the so-called “problems” you’re facing in your own life, it’s nothing at all. It’s nothing as compared to what they’re going through. All the worries you have about your upcoming exams so on and so forth.. It’s just so insignificant. So.. Laughable.

It’s just like you not finishing your dinner and your mom goes like “Kids in Africa are starving.” The only difference is that you don’t know the kids over there so you don’t feel as much. It is when people you know are say getting diagnosed with incurable diseases and all that you actually feel something.

I don’t know for sure who you are but unless you’re intending on confessing before you get found out, you’d better keep your dirty lil fingers crossed that I do not ever discover who you are because I am NOT the kind of pushover who would have my money stolen and keep mum about it.

I must say I did get a rude shock when I saw the empty cash compartment yesterday because things like that has never happened to me. Whether is it because I’ve been lucky enough to have not met any of these thieving mofos or cause of the “don’t-mess-with-me” vibe people often say I give(which I don’t deny) I don’t know, but apparently I was proven wrong this time.

You can trust no one. Not even people who are related to you.

And before any of y’all start telling me to get over the $$$..

It’s not about the stolen money per se.

It is that someone actually had the audacity to steal from a relative at a grandmother’s funeral.

It’s bad enough to steal, but stealing from a relative? At a wake? Really?

Where ARE your morals? Didn’t your mom ever teach you that there are some things that you DON’T do?

OH YEAH.

She prolly didn’t.

So lemme tell you this.

YOU DON’T STEAL FROM YOUR FAMILY(extended or direct), AT A DAMN FUNERAL OR NOT.

Also, before any of y’all think “But it’s not THAT huge an amount…”

It’s not about the amount stolen itself.

Doesn’t matter that my wallet costs more than the amount stolen.

My wallet got emptied out. Clean. Wiped out. Totally. Gone. If I’ve had $400 or $4,000 or even $40,000 inside it’d have been gone.

So does it really matter how much was stolen? Can I only announce this if I had lost $4,000 or $40,000?

It’s considered stealing if you steal $1 and it’s ALSO considered stealing if you steal $10,000.

If you steal, you steal.

Stealing $100 does NOT make you any less innocent than stealing $1,000.

If I had lost double the amount I did or even half the amount I did I would still have been as mad as I was when I found out about the missing money because IT IS NOT ABOUT THE AMOUNT.

It is that someone actually stole from a relative at a goddamned funeral. Regardless of the reason behind it. Regardless of whether you REALLY had a need for money or not. It doesn’t make it any less outrageous.

I mean, even IF you did have a desperate need for $$$, you ask. You don’t take without asking and even without being a law student I think y’know that that’s a criminal offence. Teachers who are former deputy public prosecutors have reminded me that stealing’s an arrestable offence, and that means I could easily have blown this up(and even offered to help.)

But anyway the salient point is that it’s NOT the quantity that matters. It’s the PRINCIPLE.

I mean seriously, who the F*CK steals at funerals?

I know you have no integrity or conscience but have you also no shame?

I was so absolutely disgusted with this whole incident I was ready to head down to the funeral the moment I realized what had happened to warn everyone about this thieving sonofabitch(well and to ask if anyone’s noticed anything suspicious because I think I know around when the thief struck, though with that being said, I’m not gon point any fingers) but yes my parents were right, I wouldn’t wanna create a ruckus at my grandma’s funeral.

BUT, it is not because I’m some weakling who would “suffer” in silence that I chose not to go down.

You see, unlike you, I have values and respect for a grandmother even though she’s not my ‘real’ one. (I have 4 grandmas- it’s complicated) That is why I’m not creating a scene at the wake. (Though I must say I might be tempted to if I were to head down to the wake again.)

I must say initially I was beyond pissed. I hoped such a lowly lifeless scum like you would burn in hell(if hell would take you, that is) but now I just feel sad for you.

And y’know what?

When a victim of your own thieving act is feeling sorry for you.. It’s saying something.

It’s saying “You’re pathetic.”

I think you’ll only really learn when your own kids starts stealing from you in the future.

Never thought I’d have to pay(literally) for a life lesson like this.

We grow up, we lead our own lives, we get busy, we THINK we’re too busy, we assume we have time, we assume we have more time then we assume we’ll ALWAYS have more time.

But really, do we?

Do we really have time when we don’t know when people around us could just pass on like that?

If you’re one of those who thinks you’ll always have more time for things other than work, the things that are more important than work…. Think again.

The house went on some short-circuit spree some time last week cause something somewhere blew- like literally, the electricity would come on and go off in a matter of minutes- and the whole black-out session didn’t end till an hour or two later(I fell asleep while waiting for it to come back on lol).

So anyway we didn’t light any candles -for fear of setting the house on fire- but we did fish out all the torch lights, light sticks, electric portable fans with LED lights on its blades and…

My childhood toy that is surprisingly still in my possession: Light Chaser

Btw it’s supposed to spin(that’s why I was able to capture the shot above) but over here it’s not spinning cause I held it against the background to take a photo of it.

Yeah so my sister suggested to take a photo of it in action(the first photo) and we were so amazed by it cause we weren’t expecting it to show up so prettily in photos, and so we went on to bug my mom to wave the light chaser around for us while we continued snapping away at it(while my dad was tryna fix the faulty circuit in the house lol).

Told my mom to wave it around in circles and this was what we got

I think the yellow lights was supposed to be white in color but the plastic(?) covering the bulbs(?) turned yellow over the years so....

The hint of purple came from the thing in the middle

Well other than for taking pretty photos of the lights like that, I can’t think of any uses the light chaser can provide.  I mean you have to hold the button and wave it around(and it makes this rather loud spinning noise when it spins) so I don’t really know what kinda joy was it that I was able to derive from it when I first got it as a kid about a decade ago… Or why my parents even gave in to my requests.

 I think it was quite good(or maybe because anything tastes good to a hungry person) and the wanton skin’s really thin. It can be a bad thing if you’re one of those who likes the really ‘crunchy feeling’ when you bite into a really thick-skinned wanton.

Craving for some bubble tea so we gave this random new shop a shot

(Btw don’t try their caramel chocolate pearl milk tea. It tastes really strong, in the bad way, and odd.)

Then we were supposed to hit Citylink Mall to get myself some Garrett popcorn but the really sweet drink killed my craving for all the sweet stuff so we walked around Ion, Wisma(they’re opening one Garrett outlet there) and checked out the new Forever 21 @ Orchard Exchange.

Is it really the biggest F21 outlet in Singapore anyway?? The one at Somerset 313 seems way bigger innit?

Cali Pizza Kitchen's a double-storey restaurant located beside Hilton Hotel

With the open-kitchen & seats by the kitchen concept(reminds me of teppanyaki)

The restaurant's really quite big and it's usually full house on weekends(but we went there on a weekday so it's rather empty)

Double sided menu- Not too much of a variety but their food's good, so quality > quantity

Utensils- pretty useless for cutting through their pizzas though

 The desserts were REALLY sweet even for someone with a sweet tooth like me. I was actually gon get some chocolates/marshmallows from Muji for the movie we were catching later but by the time I was done with the dessert I was so sick of “sweet” we ended up getting wasabi peas from Marks & Spencer.

To feel the "burn" from the wasabi through your nose, trick is to not just start biting but let the peas roll around on your tongue first

And we caught an impromptu show @ Lido..

It wasn’t all that funny IMO, but most of the time the animation was really quite good. You never fail to go “awww” when one of the penguins go up to Jim Carrey and rub their faces against him and things like that. Though the noises they make can be really quite annoying.

So, we had Astons in town and cabbed back to Nex for the late night show cause he was all set on watching only that show and that show only.

I didn’t find the show THAT awesome but they say that’s because it’s all guy humour so yeah. It IS quite scary to see how they can wake up with no recollections on what happened the night before though. I wonder if they exaggerated or does it happen in real life?

Imagine waking up to a tattoo on your face.

Now that’s truly FML-worthy.

Oh and I think Zach Galifianakis is really good at playing the “annoying” roles, like he did in Due Date as well.

There’s nothing bad bout the show but I don’t find myself raving over it either. Though I did get a surprize when I saw Uncle Vernon from Harry Potter in the show. (Can you believe he’s 64 this year?! He looks 50+ tops.)

Btw even though I missed the 3rd film(At World’s End), I wasn’t lost throughout the show. So thumbs up for that.  Then it’s two thumbs up for Johnny Depp. Thank god they casted him for the role in the end instead of Hugh Jackman. Totally rocked the show with his eccentric style like MJ. And to think one of the producers started out criticizing the style he brought to the role..

Anyway. Max and I walked out of the cinema to see this:

So the day before the deadline(I forgot for which assignment) I was actually camping in front of the comp tryna get pass all the levels(which I did, by the next day) instead of getting started on the piece of work that was due the next day.

Well then I got over the whole game after that cause there weren’t any challenges left.

We wanted to try the much-raved-about pontian noodles but it was a total full house + queue so we decided to settle for street side food at a food fare where we bought all the typical chinese street food like kueh tutus, hot & spicy fishballs, curry fishballs, asam laksa, sausages and low & behold….

And as you can see from the title- I’m talking about taking friends for granted in this case.

I think I’ve mentioned the “Strangers, Again.” video that I chanced upon(it’s really not that hard to miss it cause it was everywhere over Facebook & all) and I feel that it doesn’t only apply to couples. I’d say it’s more or less the same thing when it comes to friends.

Right for those who don’t know about the video, basically it’s tryna say that there are 7 stages in a relationship:

Stage 1 Meeting
Stage 2 Chase
Stage 3 Honeymoon
Stage 4 Comfortable
Stage 5 Tolerance
Stage 6 Downhill
Stage 7 Breaking up

So when it comes to friends, I’d change the “chase” to “deciding whether this is someone you can click with” and the “honeymoon” to “impressing him/her’ once you’ve decided that you CAN click with that person. Then of course friends don’t “break-up”, they either become hi-bye friends or/and stop talking to each other altogether after.

I think each & every single friendship that’s gone down the drain’s truly a waste because although you can FEEL like you’ve “known someone since forever” even when you only just met that someone, NOBODY just clicks with someone else overnight.

I’m talking about REAL friendships here btw; where you know each other inside out, where y’all have loads of happy & embarrassing moments with, where y’all have shared exclusive experiences with to get to the “Comfortable” stage.

And talking about “Comfortable”…. It usually translates to “Taking him/her for granted” cause you’re so used to this person being there you basically just think that “Oh he/she’s gon be there forever no matter what.”

Then in the end it all boils down to telling yourself not to have any expectations cause without it, there will be no disappointments.

So contrary to popular belief, I actually DO dig animated films- and Kungfu panda is definitely one of those that I’d watch. But somehow I felt that the first one was better. Maybe because Master Oogway’s one of my favorite characters and he’s not in part 2…. Yes yes I like weird characters like Master Oogway, Master Shifu & Mr Ping (I LOVE HIS NOODLE HAT) instead of the main ones like Po & the Furious Five.

Oh and Harry Potter fans out there, Sirius Black(Gary Oldman) voiced the peacock(Lord Shen) in this show.

Professor X- or James McAvoy to be exact- is hot stuff. IN the show. You must watch it to get what I mean. The accent and his unbelievably blue eyes(when he was in Magneto’s arms after having been ‘shot’ by him). And I LOVED the emotional scene when Professor X was tryna help Magneto turn the whole satellite dish.

HAHA okay -serious face- those aside, I think the show’s awesome, even for someone like me who’s never been faithfully following the whole X-men series(which I will, from now). The action is there, the plot is there, the twist is there(unless you’ve read the comics) and yeah it’s a good 2 hour show. Go catch it if you haven’t already!

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I found out THESE were the much-raved-over guo ties(chinese), which was also when I started to get hooked on ‘em.

For those of you who seldom go for chinese food when you’re out…. You might wanna try these if you see ‘em on the menu. I personally LOVE ‘em with LOADS of chili. Sambal chili, to be exact. I won’t like ‘em half as much if it’s without chili. Yes I’m a typical Singaporean with the whole “chili thing” going on.

Yup and then we have times when some would go around complaining bout this and that and this and that *repeats phrase 100 times over* with the obvious intention of wanting some sympathy -desperate for some, actually- and then here you are again, caught in a situation whereby you don’t really wanna say whatever words of concern/compliments it is that you feel obliged to deliver.

I mean- it is fine if the person’s complaints are actually valid and in moderation. I understand everyone needs to rant once in a while, even baseless rants, yes. But it’s a different thing altogether when someone whines 24/7 NONSTOP, WITHOUT making any efforts to make his situation better.

Worse still- some actually deserved what they got, but you just can’t put your fist down to make ‘em feel even worse  by telling the truth, since they’re already feeling so lousy that they’re going around begging for comfort.

It’s like you’re just going around expecting sympathy when the world owes you none.

It’s a privilege when people are nice enough/in a mood good enough to entertain the chains of never-ending and unfounded complaints baby, so don’t overstep the limit.

Okay I’m not sure if all of you get what I’m tryna say, but I reckon for those of you who’ve been there, you’ll geddit

I’m sick of always trying and knowing/feeling it’s not good enough an effort, then I’ll stop reaching out AND start to feel even worse that I’m giving up ’cause then it would REALLY be that I’m not good enough(since I stopped trying altogether).

(Right now I’m sure none of you got that)

See, whoever said life was simple/life could be simple if you want it to be is lying.

Life is such a contradictory bitch.

Yeah I know it’s so contradicting that a week before I was actually saying I don’t mind school starting straightaway.

But that’s human nature for you. Being contradictory. It’s just like how I want this final year to never end previously, but now I just want this semester to be over.

I think I’m just ageing and actually feeling it. I remember doing all the same stuff I’ve done in this week in year 1, meeting friends to go to school together, going to lectures with the usual people, going through breaks with ‘em and lectures again, meeting outside friends after school and then the cycle repeats- just that this time round, I actually feel..

Drained.

And it’s just the first week of school. FIRST. With no tutorials.

I’m really thankful for the long weekend ahead, and I hope it will pass by as slowly as possible cause I could really do a break. I’m still SO into the holiday mood and totally NOT ready for school.

It scares me even more knowing that because I do not have the capacity to vote(I turn 19 this year), my future would lie in the hands of some of these voters who don’t even know nothing ’bout the party they’re voting for(because like I said above, they just wanna “challenge” the party they aren’t gon vote for).

Then- even worse, some have no idea what they ARE voting for, and what their votes could do- they just vote cause they HAVE to, once they turn 21.

Food for thought: Is it really a good idea to make voting compulsory?

I think it’s just a matter of how lil complaints can a government bring about. I’d say it’s more about the amount, and not whether there can be ZERO complaints or not. Because the only way I can think of that can assure zero complaints would be the Hitler era….

And I doubt anyone would want that.

So, I for one, am thankful that we actually get to vote(and the general budget hahaha) instead of having everything just imposed on us. At the very least, we are allowed voting, and the government does bother to take measures to earn their votes, unlike some unfortunate countries.

And as for opposition, we have ‘em coming up against the government(stronger than ever). So yes, you might complain now, but who can guarantee that you would not be complaining even MORE under other rulers? I think it all boils down to “Be careful what you wish for.” because nothing is “for sure”.

Talking bout opposition.. It’s undeniably true that too diverse a government might inevitably weaken the whole system, and yet at the same time, it’s important to have different views as well- which we do. Not so much in the parliament(which would bring about more chaos), but no doubt in the political circle. Don’t we all have opposition parties(that are getting more verbal by the years = more stress to the PAP)? Don’t you think these are enough to keep the ruling party on hot seats and wanting to do better to keep their place?

As for the people.

Personally, I feel that some Singaporeans “forget their roots”. Ever since independence, the standard of living here has picked up so much we’re even doing better than the country we separated from, if I may say so.

So then some Singaporeans start to take for granted all of these improvements et cetera, and when inevitable issues, say inflation comes, some of us would complain, and for example, some parties might jump at the chance to offer to say for example, lower the prices to the people should they become ruling party as a bait- and here’s what I feel:

1) Lowering prices? SURE. Because c’mon, who would wanna pay $5 if they can get away with $4? BUT.

2) There are bound to be ripple effects of lowering the prices, which I’m sure the government has most prolly taken into consideration, and therefore decided to do what they did.

A friend said “Not many understands that instant gratification lowers the quality of life”, and to which I couldn’t agree more.

Also, not everyone thinks of 2) because maybe, well, not everyone is long-sighted. Well yeah it’s tempting to wanna take the goodies in the short term, but d’you wanna suffer in the long run?

I think I don’t have to remind us of how important is it to be long-sighted, yes? It’s thanks to the long-sightedness of the People’s Action Party(PAP) back then that we are where we are now.

Think: The foresight to make learning English compulsory in Singapore, mixing racial groups in HDBs, coming up with edusave, medisave, the central provident fund, establishing our Singapore Changi Airport as a world-class one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore_Changi_Airport_awards_and_accolades) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic), rising as the #1 busiest trading port in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Singapore) so on and so forth-

All these are often missed out when people think of issues that affect them more directly like inflation for instance. But hey, we’re voting for the future of a country here, shouldn’t we be concerned bout the country as a whole as well, as much as the citizens are concerned about themselves?

Afterall, it is what the whole country is that makes us proud to be Singaporeans, and not just about you, yourself, and did I say you already?

There’s a reason why our Motto is “Onward, Singapore” and not “Onward, You”.

Think for the country, before YOU vote.

Surprize bouquet I received days back- the very thing that triggered some thoughts & inspired this entry

Okay this post’s gon sound really emo but that’s not the case. I guess it’s just that all posts ’bout emotions sound uh emo. HAHA am I making sense?!

Anyway. The snapshot of the bouquet’s there for a reason. The real bouquet’s sitting on my desk as I type, and it’s at times like these I feel like I’ll never love again. And I guess this is a by-product of having CHOOSING to be single for around three years++. It started out with me deciding to stay away from the field after a fresh breakup three years++ ago, and after that it just started to grow on me.

I mean- since I was lovin’ the single life, why not continue living it, right? Why play the game and risk losing when you could just sit on the fence, especially with friends coming to me with all their failed relationships and horrors. It kinda just serves as a reminder not to help anyone tear down those walls around yourself and to have to build ‘em up all over again after that party has proven to be a heartbreaker.

Well that’s the case for the ‘bad boys’, of course. Then there are the ‘good ones’ who wouldn’t take your heart only to trample on it later, so despite the fact that ladies love bad boys, I’ve always told myself that it wasn’t my fault for turning down all the ‘bad boys’ cause, well, they obviously don’t deserve it.

THEN I started to wonder whether it was MY problem cause I realized I was saying no to the ‘good boys’ as well. I’ve been lucky to have had some really good guys think I was worth the trouble to make me breakfast(even I’ve never made anyone breakfast lol), deliver food to my place himself/via the delivery man, surprize me with bouquets, wake up at unearthly hours and wait for hours just to surprize me at my place and take me to school, follow me home even when I ignored him all the way back cause I was in a really foul mood, to come to my block looking for my unit amongst the entire level’s units just to pacify to me when I’m mad in the night, to apologize daily face to face/call/text me daily when I’m pissed, to wanna cab down to my place when I was sick/had any sorta trouble, to tear/cry for me, and I wasn’t even their girlfriend, etc you get the drift.But I rejected these really nice guys as well, and I started giving myself the excuse that maybe the ‘right one’ just hasn’t come along, and that I wasn’t wrong to have not given them a chance as well.

AND as of late, it dawned on me that I should start to learn to stop pushing (potential) relationships away and let nature take it’s course instead, especially should any ‘right’ one come along.

But anyway the point of this whole entry is that after being so used to saying no, no, no, and no and not giving any chances to anyone, deserving or not, it has become a routine- a habit to just keep your heart to yourself and to not feel anything at all, rather than to love & to hurt, and have to climb back up and repeat the healing process.

It’s amazing how much thoughts can come out of looking at a random bouquet received. -nods-

I didn’t exactly mean literally to ‘piss’ ‘em off- it was more a figure of speech, like to deny losers like this one the cheap thrill of sitting behind the keyboard and abusing the cover of ‘anonymous’.

But I guess some are too thick to geddit? *shrugs

2. I didn’t answer its question but updated a status/tweet bout it to see how it was gonna retaliate if it is THAT free and keen to prove its point of ‘not being pissed’, and I was right!

Well unless it bothers to come up with some lame excuses to make it seem like it didn’t intentionally wanna see that status/tweet of mine.. Which losers usually do.

Even if it DID see that tweet/status unintentionally.. CHOOSING to retaliate IS a different thing altogether, no?

But don’t bother if you’re banging on me reading your reply and taking it fo’ real..

Unless you wanna have another go at cheap pleasure of having the ‘last say’ cause I won’t be addressing this issue no more.

3. I would assume this person isn’t a friend ’cause a friend would talk to me directly(only exceptions are losers), and since I’m not a friend..

Should I be thankful or mad that a stranger is actually tryna interfere with MY life?

4. Years ago I might have been affected by losers like this one.. But then I learnt that it’s impossible to make the whole world love you.

If someone likes you, someone else, somewhere else would dislike you.

That’s why I’d only be affected by (true)friends’ opinion about me, cause they’re the ones who KNOW me, and have the right to pass judgements that I would be affected by.

If strangers wanna pass judgement when they don’t even know you.. There’s nothing you can do but to let ‘em be, right?

I’ve answered each and every single question asked on my formspring (unless my memory fails me), ‘cept for like 2 questions which I didn’t wanna answer cause I wanted to see how the loser would reply with the anon cover blown.

But since I’m not affected by whatever critiques strangers have about me, I’ll be addressing the questions here, on a public platform as well.

Prolly the last time I’ll be bothering explaining anyway.

Okay so there’s this question about my formspring wallpaper.

(yeah I know.. The things people can use just to pick on you)

“why d’you try so hard?’

And something about modelling. Something like that, I didn’t read the whole thing in detail.

First of all, it’s not about modelling per se. It’s about earning extra cash while doing something I could find interest in.

Secondly, I WAS trying hard in the beginning, like say in ’09 when I first started out? But over time, the interest began to waver. It was like an on and off thing, like I would turn down assignments sometimes cause I got tired of all of it. If I was trying so hard to be a model.. Wouldn’t I jump at each and every single chance whenever I got offered one?

Lastly, regarding the wallpaper, I’ve gotten more nice than nasty remarks about it- actually this is the only negative comment I’ve gotten about the wallpaper, but it’s cool cause you get some good ones, you’re bound to get some bad ones as well, like I said.

5. But sad to say, this particular loser doesn’t have the honor of being the sole reason why I decided to end the formspring saga. I started the formspring cause I was bored and wanted to see what kinda questions people would ask that they won’t usually dare to, NOT for losers to have the cheap thrill of ABUSING the anonymity status.

Also, it started to dawn on me that there ARE people with one-sided minds/cup too full to take any more information in.

Example: This police has a thing against this suspect.

He BELIEVES(even when he is wrong) this particular suspect to be guilty.

So he questions the suspect 24/7 despite the suspect’s explanation and denial.

The police refuses to accept anything the suspect says BECAUSE the suspect is NOT saying whatever the police WANTS TO HEAR.

The police will ONLY stop asking when he hears the suspect confess what he WANTS TO HEAR.

Another example: I entered a journal entry about how the academic year 2 ended for me.

Some would think that I’m bragging.

I’ll say that I’m only wording it down so I can browse through my archives in the future(I’m too lazy for written diaries for things like these that aren’t too secretive-secretive)

But some would STILL think I’m bragging, even when they have the right to NOT click on my wordpress and proceed to read, ’cause that’s what THEY WANT TO BELIEVE IN, to prolly make themselves feel better or something, I don’t know?

*people nowadays…. Sighs & shakes head*

So I don’t see the point of having a formspring when there are people who are here to prove YOU wrong about YOU.

And the best part? They don’t even KNOW you.

And just this morning, almost a year later, we found the furball laying there cold and stiff in her cage, motionless. Thing is, just yesterday, the notorious meow meow bit her out of her cage(without using her teeth as well- we didn’t find any injuries on the hamster) so we reckon the poor lil thing either died of old age or shock. Or internal injuries?? Is it even possible?

I used to think that trying is enough, but after witnessing so much, I’m starting to feel that, to many, especially to those who take you for granted, trying ain’t good enough. Trying is only good enough when you succeed. To some, the world doesn’t survive on kindness and kindness alone. Say you might be doing your best to comfort someone in your own ways, but if whatever you’re doing or saying doesn’t match what he/she wants to hear, it’s YOUR fault for saying the wrong stuff, for doing the wrong things, even when it all comes from you wanting to help, wanting to be there. I don’t know where’s the fairness in this.

I’ve always been a very straightforward person. Be it towards my parents, my sister, my friends, even outside of all these personal space, say when it comes to school, project work et cetera. If I feel there’s something I must voice out, I do it. Not just the good, but even the negative comments. I always thought that people nowadays(local ones, at least) are stingy with praises, but guess what? It seems that people are even more afraid to be voicing out their unhappiness. They either do it behind your backs or keep it in ‘em till one day it gets too ‘filled-up’ to take anymore in. I mean, I understand that not everyone dares/feels comfortable to speak up, especially in the face of whoever it is that they are upset with, but doesn’t it dawn on ‘em that by thrashing things out would be a mean to solve the problem, rather than to suck it in and live with the unhappiness and never giving the other party a chance to explain? Most conflicts arise out of misunderstandings, miscommunications, yada yada. I always look back at the few quarrels I’ve had with my friends and end up thinking “How ludicrous was that?” I don’t know what’s the harm in airing matters if one knows how to do it properly and choose the vocab wisely.

I used to ponder, why make new friends when everyone come and go? It’s like, you’re just welcoming people into your life AND to have ‘em leave in the end. But then I thought that it’s part and parcel of life, people DO come and go. It’s precisely ’cause of the people who leave that y’know who are the ones who care enough to stay, to make an effort to be part of your life. But now, I don’t know which to side with.

I must say though, much as I’m happy that the year ended generally well, I was really surprized too. I mean- some of y’all would know that I was having some uh personal problems(..?) right before the start of exams. Actually, during the main papers as well.

So yeah I was only hoping (with all my might) that I’d be able to keep the A’s from all my modules’ coursework. I would have been WAY MORE than satisfied to stick with the A’s, so much so that I didn’t even THINK about getting distinctions.

Which was why I triple-read the results when it came out. I think I took a whole minute to read the results -that was only a couple of lines long.

So yup I guess it’s really the end of the academic year. In another month would mark the start of our final year(finally a senior; I’m very used to being the seniors cause I came from a new school where my year was the first batch).

I’m totally dreading the senior year though. Thanks to the 3 months of internship and having to come back to have to change classes AGAIN due to our various electives and et cetera.

I want this vacation to NEVER end.
